Make a real difference to the lives of our city’s most vulnerable and homeless people.
Since the Alternative Giving CIO charity launched in 2018 it has raised over £82,500 for Wolverhampton charities and organisations working with our most vulnerable people in Wolverhampton.
In 2025, the Alternative Giving CIO provided £25,000 of funding to 6 Wolverhampton-based charities, communities and organisations.
The Alternative Giving CIO receives most of its funds through 16 donation points kindly hosted by city centre businesses and via its two ‘Tap to Donate’ points located close to the city centre’s bus station and at Wolverhampton train station.
The donation points aim to reduce street begging by providing an alternative way to give donations.
100% of donations are then directed to existing organisations working directly in Wolverhampton to provide long term support for people in most need.
We are looking for Trustees to join the Board to ensure the charity continues to achieve its aims of supporting Wolverhampton-based charities, communities, or organisations with funding to help provide vital support to the city’s most vulnerable and homeless people.
Trustees are at the heart of the charity being responsible for ensuring it meets its legal and financial obligations while delivering on its charitable objectives.
As a trustee you will have a knowledge of the work Wolverhampton-based charities, communities and organisations do for the homeless and vulnerable people of Wolverhampton and show empathy and understanding.
As this is a voluntary position and we appreciate how busy people are, this is not a demanding role and will not put a strain on your time.
We ask you commit to:
- Commit to at least 3 years’ service.
- 4 meetings a year, in person or on teams excluding grant funding meetings.
- Be involved with charity activities to promote the charity.
- Bring fresh fundraising ideas
- Help raise the profile of the Alternative Giving CIO and the organisations it supports
